Hi folks,
So after 1 month the ID7 tourer and I are getting on well but I haven't cracked the 100% charge yet. Here's the set up; ID7 Tourer (Pro) - Ohme Home ProSmart Charger - Octopus Supplier.
Normal charging is done to 80% using the Ohme Charger app which seems to work fine overnight. Gets to about 240 miles predicted range which seems pretty standard at the moment given UK temperatures. On a couple of occasions however I've tried to get a little bit more range by setting the Ohme Charger app to charge to 100% and altering the car settings (via the infotainment charger settings) to anticipate the 100%. I've plugged in as normal with the Ohme app telling me it's all ready to charge during the cheap night-time sessions. Problem is, I wake up to find the car has still rejected charging beyond 80% and Ohme notifications telling me that the car has stopped charging.
Anyone got any tips for overriding the car?! Or an explanation of what is happening?
Thanks!
The Magic 100% Charge - how?
Settings for charge limit in the Ohme app won’t make any difference unless the app is paired with your VW account so it can see what the state of charge is and, at least for me, the Ohme app won’t pair with the VW account.
The car is the only thing that will control the charge limit in this scenario. Do you have a charge location set up? If so, that will override the main charge limit setting for the car if you are in that location so you will need to change the charge limit settings for that location.

remove the 80% limit permanently by turning off battery care mode and just set the limit you want in the Ohme. I never used the 80% battery care mode and other than the frequent reminder to turn it on it never caused any issues. Always just told the charger want I wanted charge wise and normally set it to complete around an hour before the time I actually needed it. Some days I need 100% charge as I do 30k plus per year so this way just removed any issues.

Very much agree - in 3.5 years of Enyaq ownership, I've kept Battery Care Mode off, and manually changed the charge limit on the infotainment or app when I need to change it. Usually it's set at 80%, but if I want 100%, then it's a job of a couple of seconds to move the slider in the car before you switch off, or do it on the app if you forget. And yes, sometimes I forget to put it back to 80%, but it's not a big deal.
And if you have a charger that can talk to the VW servers to get the actual state of charge from the car, then even better

Thanks for the replies. Still think there is a disconnect somewhere between the various settings. Car was set to 100% (from infotainment) last night - set charger app to charge to 100% but the VW app remained stuck at 80% and sure enough it stopped charging at 80 again! Good news is that the warmer weather means that 80% charge has returned a predicted 305 mile range but still can't understand why I can't go beyond the 80% ceiling! Not a problem at the moment but some longer trips are on the horizon for which the extra 20% range will be needed!
Two things to try next time - don't open the phone app after changing it in the car. It's possible that it's sending 'stop at 80' to the car, which will override what you set in the Infotainment before leaving the car. Also double check you don't have Battery Care Mode or any charge location settings enabled. I think they will also override what's set.

I have the same, solar, batteries, 3 evs and IOG..... depending on which system you have, I have GivEnergy, I use Wonderwatt to automate the whole thing and also run my cars charging at 10 amps to extend my charge slots, meaning I get around 12 hours a day minimum at 7p plus Wonderwatt keeps the charging of the battery to only times when the car is charging. Its bloody brilliant and works with other manufacturers tooRichR wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 4:27 pmVery much agree - in 3.5 years of Enyaq ownership, I've kept Battery Care Mode off, and manually changed the charge limit on the infotainment or app when I need to change it.
